Sisterhood of The World Bloggers Tag

My Petit Canard Blog

I don’t usually tend to do many of these types posts, or havent done for a year or two at least, having really been focused on writing posts about our general every day life and fewer posts on blogging and the blogging community. Plus, I don’t seem to be organised enough to be able to fit them in alongside everything else that I want to write about, even with the best efforts and intentions. But I do think some of these types of tags are quite nice and give you an insight into parts of bloggers lifes that they may not necessarily write about, even though we lay our lives bare on our blogs everyday.

So when the lovely Franca from A Moment With Franca tagged me into the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Tag I decided to finally get my act together, go back to my blogging roots a little bit and get involved, so thank you to Franca for tagging me in!

The Rules

  1. Thank the blogger who gave you the award and link back to their blog
  2. Answer the 10 questions they’ve given you
  3. Nominate 7 other bloggers for the award
  4. Write 10 questions for your nominees to answer
  5. Display the award on your blog or on a post

What do you always have in your bag?

My iPhone, purse and keys are always in my bag regardless of where I am going and what I am doing. I will also usually have handcream and a pen with me if I have a large enough bag. However, the bigger the bag the more things and random bits and pieces I seem to carry around. Like most mums, it’s not unusual for me to find some of the little ladys hairbands and clips and other toddler paraphernalia!

What day of the week do you like the most?

It’s a really obvious answer, but Saturdays are most definitely my favourite day with Friday and Sunday coming a very close second. I look forward to and live for spending time with my little family and cherish each and every single weekend that we get to spend quality time together.

Tell me how you came up with the logo/name for your blog?

It was the term of endearment we used for the little lady when I was pregnant with her, so when I decided to start the blog in the middle of the night one night, it made absolute sense for me to call my blog My Petit Canard.

Which 3 countries would you like to visit?

Bora Bora in French Polynesia and the Maldives are the only countries left on my wish list! I’ve been really fortunate to travel to some amazing places and tick a lot off of my travel bucket list before we started a family a few years ago.

What is your hobby?

Blogging, need I say more!

Why did you decide to have a blog?

I started my blog completely randomly in the middle of the night when I was breastfeeding the little lady one night. I was finding that as a new parent it felt quite lonely and isolating at times with all the middle of the night breastfeeds, crazy sleep patterns and constant demands from a new baby, and not many people to talk to about it other than my husband. Obviously we have lots of great and supportive family and friends around us, but I quickly realised that most people were at work and getting on with the day to day and didn’t have that much time to talk baby all the time as you tend to do as a new parent. My blog started off as my little space, and still is, to share all the baby, parenting and random things on my mind.

What makes you happy?

My family, sunshine, holidays and mini adventures. My little family are my favourite people to spend with in the whole wide world. A perfect day for me would be spent with them and there is nothing that makes me feel more happy and more content than that. Waking up on a lovely sunny morning instantly puts a smile on my face and makes me happy, as does going on holidays and discovering new places. I am the type of person that loves to be out and about all the time, which can be a bit exhausting for my husband who loves to spend time at home. But its great because in a way, I think we balance each other out in that respect.

What song are you loving at the moment?

I’m loving Shes American by The 1975 at the moment. I love the 80’s feel it has to it, every time I listen to it I think it could be an old Phil Collins song. It just has a lovely feel to it. The little lady loves it too and it has become one of “our” songs. The first time we heard it we were in the kitchen baking and ended up dancing around the kitchen to it together so every time I listen to it now, it reminds me of that moment and brings a smile to my face.

What is your favourite colour and why?

I always really struggle with this question and hate being asked it because I don’t have a favourite colour. However when I think about colours that I quite like to buy things in or decorate with they tend to pastel colours like dusky pink, mint and I really love anything that comes in Rose Gold at the moment.

Would you like to be a pro-blogger?

I would love to become a pro-blogger and am trying to take my blog in this direction when I am on maternity leave. I realised about six months ago that I’d finally found something that I am hugely passionate about and love doing, so to be able to do it full time would be an absolute dream come true. I in no way underestimate the work it takes to become and be a pro-blogger in terms of the hours that others put into it, the things they get involved in and communities they join, but I’d really like to give it my all over the next year and see if I can really make the blogging lifestyle work for me and my family.

Hi, I am always flattered when I receive a nomination for an informal blogging award from a fellow blogger, particularly when it is a blogger whose work I read regularly, but I never respond in a follow on post. I find it a bit difficult, as an anonymous blogger, to answer all of those questions. I love reading others answers though and i thoroughly enjoyed reading yours. Pen xx #KCACOLS

It’s so nice to find out a little more you Emily, and I love these types of awards and nominations for this reason. I love the name behind your blog, and how you went about setting it up, without giving it too much thought. I’m amazed by how far your blog has come, I love reading it, it is one of my favourite blogs to read. I completely agree with you on how hard blogging is, and the hours that need to go into it are long, despite having a little one and being at home all the time. I hope you that you achieve your dream to become a pro-blogger, I’ll be following you to see how you get on. I would love to go to the French Polynesia – it looks beautiful, it’s such a shame it’s so far away and expensive to get there. Thanks so much for linking up at #KCACOLS. I love these kinds of posts, so nice to find out a bit more about people! I love the fact that you named your blog after your nickname for your daughter, if I’d done the same and used the nickname my son had when I was pregnant with him my blog would be called ‘Tiberius’! Bit different from ‘This Glorious life’! x #KCACOLS

    • April 25, 2016 / 8:23 pm

Well that would be a little bit different, although it would definitely be memorable πŸ˜‰ Agree with you, such a great tag to get involved in!

Great to get to know more about you. I love that the name came from a nickname. I think it’s a great name, I always remember it – which is obviously what you want. Before TM was born I called him Bloblet! Hope you can make pro blogging work for you; love your blog. #KCACOLS

Thanks, I really love my blog name although to most it probably seems quite random! I cant say I’ve heard of bloblet as a nickname before πŸ˜‰

    • April 25, 2016 / 8:15 pm

Thats such a compliment, thank you! I wish I was a pro blogger, that would be such a dream come true πŸ™‚ Did you do the tag too? Will be popping over to your blog to have a peek!

  25. April 23, 2016 / 9:11 am

Oh thank you so much for taking part of this tag. I don’t normally do these tags all the time but this one seemed like a good tag. It is nice to read more about you.Yes the blog name was something I was very curious about too. How lucky you are to were able to visit already most of the places of your list. I have travelled a lot too but I still feel that there are lots of places that I would love to visit. It is difficult now with the girls but I hope it could be nice when they are older and can both stay at their grandparents, πŸ˜‰ Thanks so much for sharing this tag at #KCACOLS. As always it is lovely to have you. It would be great to see you again tomorrow, xx

So many people have commented the same thing about my blog name so that was a great question to ask Franca!
