Ella & Louis strawberry picking - walking together

PYO at Garsons Farm in Esher is a firm family favourite in our house. Strawberry picking has become a summer tradition for us over the last few years, and so Garsons is one of those places that we are forever recommending to friends and family.

Chris and I actually started visiting Garsons farm long before we became parents. In fact back when we first started visiting Garsons Farm we used to talk about how we would go with our future children. Fast forward and now visit with our little ones every summer.

What Can You Pick at Garsons Farm?

Garsons opens up its fields from May through to October. The farm grows 30 different types of crops with around 75 different varieties. Offering everything from strawberries and raspberries, to peas, potatoes and courgettes. During the peak season which runs from June to August the farm offers a weigh and pay system with a minimum £4 spend per adult.

When to Visit Garsons Farm

Summer is for sure the best time to visit a farm like this, but throughout the seasons there is plenty on offer from their seasonal crops, to a farm shop, restaurant and play area which makes for a good day out in the right weather. The restaurant does a great breakfast and lunch and the tea and cakes are always mouthwatering. But if you’re visting the farm to pick fruit and veg you can also make use of the designated picnic spaces and enjoy some of the fruit you’ve picked at the same time.

Verdict

Garsons Farm is one of our all time favourite places to visit in Surrey and for anyone that hasn’t been before I’d definitely recommend it. Theres lots on offer in the PYO farm and lots of other spaces to enjoy that makes this an extreamly reasonably priced family day out. Just make sure you visit early enough in the season and the day to get the best crops the farm has to offer, and hope that the British weather is on your side!

Top Tips; all crops are easily accessible by car, so if you want to pick lots of different fruit and veg hop in and out of your car. All pickings are checked by the exit so make sure yours are easily accessible in the boot or somewhere else the staff can easily get to. It’s worth consider joining Garsons farm card programme to get 10% off your haul.
