As I come to the last couple of weeks of my maternity leave, I am of course feeling rather nostalgic. Looking back over my maternity leave with fondness and dare I say it, rose tinted glasses. It has been on the whole, a wonderful 12 months that has felt like just the right amount of time to spend with my babies. Yet I cant help but feel excited and eager to start the next part of my journey. To reclaiming a piece of me again that I have started to miss over the last few weeks.
I cant help but be reflective during this last magical window of time, so I have been feeling nothing but gratitude over the last week, for:
#1 Being able to take 12 whole months of maternity leave. I never dreamed we would be in a position to be able to afford to do it, but you know what, the universe listened and just like that amazing things happened.
#2 An amazing new opportunity and perfect role finding me at just the right time. It seriously couldn’t have been better timed if I had planned and looked for it myself. It’s amazing how life has a way of working itself out.
#3 Finally getting Louis settled with a lovely childminder after a rather stressful stint at our local nursery. Seeing him happy after a few rather distressing weeks at nursery has been so wonderful and has lifted a weight off my shoulder before I start my new job.
#4 Getting to go on a lovely play date with one of Ella’s nursery school friends and his mum to Hobbledown Farm. We were lucky to have a warm sunny, and surprisingly quiet day which made it an even nicer day.
#5 Finding lots of lovely new bits for my summer wardrobe. Some of which were an absolute bargain as they were heavily reduced when I got to the till to pay.
#6 Getting to finally catch up with some old work colleagues and friends for coffee and lunch that I’ve been meaning to catch up with since I started my maternity leave.
#7 The little guy and I getting to enjoy our last baby sensory class of the term this week. I havent been as great second time round at doing baby classes with the littlest one, but baby sensory classes are the one thing that we’ve stuck to and committed to over the last few months and it’s been lovely to watch Louis grow in confidence through them. I’ll really miss our Wednesday mornings together..
#8 The long bank holiday weekend and start of half term, which means I get to squeeze in a full week of one on one time with the little ones. Not having to do the school run will be an added bonus!
Read last weeks gratitude list here, or start from the beginning with the very first gratitude list here. I also love that a few other good friends and bloggers have been inspired to start their own gratitude lists too. You can check out the last one from the lovely Fi from Beauty, Baby and Me and Emily’s from Babies & Beauty. Enjoy!
