Our Autumn Family Bucket List

My Petit Canard Autumn Bucket List Image

Now that the busyness of summer is behind us, I feel like I can finally breathe and settle into life with my little ones. As wonderful as the summer was there is something about the return to the everyday routine that makes me feel calm and centred. A feeling that I havent feel for a little while and have been craving. I am looking forward to a slower pace of life over autumn and really want to enjoy and make the most of these cooler, snuggly days as a family so we’ve written a little autumn bucket list of things we’d like to do over the next few months.

I started to write this list on my own one evening but then realised it would be much more fun to write is as a family. So we sat down one afternoon, the husband, little lady and I each with a pad of paper and a pen and wrote down the different things we’d like to do together during Autumn. The little one did need a little bit (a lot) of help translating her thoughts onto paper, but we got there and I have to say I am quite excited about our little list and looking forward to doing as many of these things as we can.

I think we’ve got a really nice list of things to do, and even though we didn’t work towards a specific number, it works out as roughly four things a month, or one thing a week which feels achievable (I think!). Plus its a nice mix of doing things all together, doing some things just with the littlest one and doing some things for me, like going to Blogfest. I don’t know if we’ll get through everything, for example Blog Fest and the weekend breaks will very much depend on budgets but we’ll aim high and see where we end up! So here’s our Autumn bucket list:

  1. Find a weekend class for the little lady
  2. Go on a weekend break in the UK
  3. Go on a weekend city break in Europe
  4. Start and finish our Christmas shopping
  5. Finish furnishing one room in the house
  6. Go for a family meal out
  7. Arrange half term play dates
  8. Go to a baby friendly cinema viewing
  9. Go to Blog Fest 16
  10. Take the little ones to the Polka Theatre
  11. Go to a Bach to Baby recital
  12. Go to Baby Sensory classes
  13. Book a christmas experience for the little ones

I’ve loved putting together our little autumn bucket list and would love to know whats on yours!

Oh this is a nice idea! Sounds like you’ve got lots planned. I would love to go to Blogfest but it’s the day before we fly to Tenerife so I’m not sure I can unless I’m super organised!!’

Aw this is so great! I think it’s lovely that you go the little one involved in making the list too. I hope you manage to tick everything off your list. πŸ™‚

Ohhh very cool! I am inspired, but would like to add…1) go to at least three blogger events 2) cook something together with the toddler, 3) get a new cot, 4) go for sushi as a family 5) rewatch every single episode EVER of the Gilmore Girls πŸ˜€

I’m so bad at planning things in advance and yet it means you’ll actually enjoy your time together rather than wake up every Saturday wondering what on earth to do (not me…ahem). Sorting the Christmas outing now is probably the best thing on your list. So many things need booking and if you leave it too late, you miss out. Which reminds me. I’m going to email my friends to see who’s interested in the Sing-along-a-Christmas-carols service at the Royal Albeet Hall. We talk about it every year when we end up at the local Arts centre instead! Also my daughter is two this year and is love to book her a nice first ever meet up with Father Christmas. You’ve got me all excited now. Thanks for prompting me into action! #twinklytuesday

Nice idea. I know our Autumn will just disappear into Christmas far too quickly! We are possible moving and our eldest is in her last year at primary school -busy, busy, busy!! We have a big year next year with my bro getting married in Chile and K starting secondary school so our planning seems to be more over the year rather than the season these days. Xx #KCACOLS

Some lovely ideas on there. And I love that some are simple things to manage and others might take a bit more work. I would definitely agree with doing Baby Sensory classes though. They will be great fun at this time of year!

I haven’t thought about my bucket list but I do like the idea of doing that… I’ll have to give it some thought!

SO many nice ideas here! I love this time of the year too. Nothing better than going for a walk, smelling the leaves on the floor. My bucket list is well less exciting! Register Baba for Frenchie nationality, signing up my contract to go back to work… BOO! #MarvMondays

Oh I know what you mean about getting some routine and settling back down – were midst a very disturbed October and will be for a couple of weeks, but everyone is adjusting well. I’d love to go to blog fest 16 – perhaps I’ll see you there… I’ve booked our Christmas trips so that’s one thing done eh. As for a city break I’d love to know how you get on with two little ones, we’ve done lots of holidays and trips away but not braved a city with them yet! I’ll look forward to reading that. #marvmondays xx

We did a Bach to Baby session a year ago and it was wonderful. The performers are top rate (when we went we had the principal harpist from the English Nation Opera) and they’re so relaxed about babies crawling around. Enjoy!

That sounds like a great list. I love the sound of the Bach baby Recital. My eldest daughter is now studying music in University and we always tried to encourage a love of the arts in our children despite the fact that me and my husband are scientists. have a lovely Autumn. #MarvMondays

I love this list – what a great idea! I was thinking today I must do a list of all the things I want to achieve, especially blog wise, before the end of 2016 and this has really inspired me! Seeing as my boy is poorly, I’ve got no excuse but to spend the next couple of days at home brainstorming!!! Can’t wait to meet you at Blogfest xx #MarvMondays

This sounds great! We’ve also jotted down to take little man to the cinema and start our Christmas shopping, I’ve already started to book Christmas experiences for baby K but think I’ve gone a bit overboard in that I’ve only left myself one weekend free for anything I want to do, oops! Luckily I’m off of work on a Wednesday so the plan is to do any crazy shopping during the week when it’s less busy OR online! x #KCACOLS

I think it’s great that it’s worked out at one a week my problem is I always put too much in a bucket list and then get despondent and give up! Love the polka dot theatre and hopefully I will see you at blog fest!! Whoop whoop. Thanks for hosting #MarvMondays xx
