The start of Spring brings with it a great excuse to freshen up the wardrobe, which is exactly what I am starting to do over the next few weeks. I always make the mistake of waiting until we are firmly into a season before I start buying my new wardrobe pieces, at which point fashion has already moved on to the next season and I am left scrabbling around stores for whatever they have left. But not this year. This year I am going to be organised and get ahead by starting now.
So far I’ve made one small purchase, its beautiful and its a start but there’s pretty much a whole wardrobe to buy still. I always feel like a good wardrobe starts with great statement shoes and jackets so I’ve put together this little inspiration board of some of my favourite flat style shoes for Spring.
I’ve been wanting to get my hands on some loafers for quite a while now. I always think there is a very fine line between being on trend with loafers, and looking like you’ve borrowed your grandma’s shoes. However these patent beauties are definitely on trend and would look perfect pared with some jeans and a nice shirt, top or jumper. I think these will be incredibly versatile and will go with almost anything, although they do also come in a gorgeous grey too which I am super tempted by!
I have such a thing for Espadrilles, the shoes that never seem to go out of fashion. I bought a lovely cream and black pair last summer, but these studded tan ones are gorgeous and would be perfect for Spring through to summer. One of the things that I love about espadrilles is just how comfortable they are, perfect when you have little ones to run around after all the time.
Over the last few years slip on trainers have become my prefered style of trainer. I love how smart they look and how easy they are to wear. As a busy mum who always has her hands full I love that I can put a slip on trainer on without having to use my hands (winning!). I also love a leopard print shoe but am yet to own a pair so these are definitely the perfect next pair!
In the Spring pumps become my go to style of shoes. I like to mix things up from time to time, but pumps are definitely my everyday shoe, just like my ankle boots are in the winter. I love a classic black pump, but the heart and pointed toe give these pumps a nice twist which make them more of a statement piece and perfect for my new spring wardrobe.
I think the only question now is which one do I get first? Let me know what you think in the comments below!
