After having our daughter in the middle of a hot, sticky summer almost three years ago, I vowed never to have another summer baby. But three years down the line I find myself in exactly the same predicament with another summer baby on the way! My only hope is that with baby number two being due a month earlier than the little lady is that it’s a little cooler this time round. However the good thing about having already had one summer baby, is that I know exactly what I’m facing when it comes to the practicalities of clothing them for the first few months. I was totally unprepared last time stocking up on lots of baby grows and the little lady ended up living in vests for pretty much the first two or so months because it was far too warm for anything else. So this time round I’m making sure we stock up on lots of vests and rompers for this little one and thought I’d share some of my favourites that I’ve found so far.
1. Next Boat Rompers
Next are one of my favourites and go to stores for baby clothes. Their fit (slightly generous) and quality of their baby clothes is fantastic and they always have such a great range for little ones. I can’t get enough of the nautical theme for baby boys at the moment and these rompers are simple, but really sweet and perfect for the summer.
I love dungarees on little boys and these Next ones are pretty adorable. I’d love to get these for our holiday to Mauritius this summer when he will be a couple of months old and I’ll be starting to make the switch from simple vests, rompers to little outfits.
I equally love the John Lewis Baby range, particularly for the great quality fabrics they use. I love the stripes on this little boat romper and can see this also being perfect for the warmer summer months.
4. John Lewis Baby Mummy Sunshine Sleepsuit
I’m generally not a fan of baby outfits which have Mummy and Daddy written on them, but I quite like this John Lewis Baby one as it’s really modern and a bit different from the typical slogan type designs that you find. The colours are great and I love the simplicity of the designs and prints. We didn’t get any footless sleepsuits when we had the little lady, but I could imagine these might be great for cooler summer evenings.
Its only natural if you have a Mummy sleepsuit to get a Daddy one too! Plus, the design is again really modern, simple and sweet.
6. Gap Stripe Tank Shortie
Like the nautical theme, I can’t get enough of mariniere stripes! I love this sleeveless Baby Gap romper which is simple but sweet and again will be perfect in the hot summer months. Baby Gap is one of my other favourite go to places for little ones, although I’ve always found the sizes less generous on the little lady so tend to shop there less compared to Next and John Lewis. That said, they do have some of the cutest outfits around!
7. Ted Baker Plane Print Romper Suit
Ted Baker always have some lovely bits for little ones, but tends to be somewhere I go to for more one off and special occasion pieces rather than every day items. Like the other brands, the quality of their clothes is great and their sizing is pretty spot on. I love this plane print romper which similar to the John Lewis Baby ones will probably be perfect for cooler summer nights.
8. Gap Logo Colourblock Shortie
I love these trendy little Baby Gap logo rompers which are quite Ralph Lauren-esque. I love the boldness of them and the colour block style. They do come in a jersey type material so are probably a bit thicker than the other rompers, but I think these could be good for days out and slightly cooler summer days.
One of the things that you may have noticed like me is that there is a lot of blue and white in this colour palate. I would like to have more colour in the little ones wardrobe, especially during the summer months when its perfect to have lots of splashes of colour so I’ll be keeping my eye out for brighter bits to add to this list. If you’ve come across any brighter and sunnier prints or designs let me know as I’d love some recommendations!
