If you visit My Petit Canard regularly, you may have noticed over the last few weeks a few subtle, or not so subtle changes. Like the rather bright, but hopefully inviting yellow and green that started to make an appearance on the blog. A departure from the clean, bright white and grey that used to adorn these pages.
I finally decided that after almost three years of blogging, a little colour wouldn’t be such a bad thing. Because as much as I love the clean look and feel of the cool white and grey tones it was time for something new, warm, inviting and fresh. Which hopefully I’ve achieved with the help of the wonderfully talented illustrator Rosalind Maroney who created this beautiful little masterpiece of a logo for me. I think it captures the character and essence of My Petit Canard perfectly. It makes me smile and gives me all of the feels which can only be a good thing.
Three years is a long time, and at the same time not such a long time in the world of blogging. Long enough for me to know that blogging is a passion and not a fad, but not so long when it comes to the lifetime of blogging that I hopefully have ahead of me. With the three year anniversary of My Petit Canard next month, it felt like the perfect time to have a bit of a refresh and for the first time properly reflect on how I want my blog to feel when readers visit it and what I want it to say about me and my little family. Content is always going to be king, but branding and design are always going to be your first impression. Its subtle and its subliminal, but it’s definitely there.
I love change. It always makes me feel revitalised and energised. It may look and feel on the outside like a simple logo and theme change, but actually it’s so much more. Its me putting myself and my blog a little more out there, signalling my intent to the universe and giving myself and the blog that much needed push to the next step and chapter. I hope you’ll all join me for the ride..
