I cannot believe that until last week we did not own a set of MegaBloks, because we have all been obsessed with them since both the little ones got one of their First Builders tables and big building bags each. From the bright, fun colours, to the easy to stack bloks there’s a lot to love about MegaBloks and how much they promote blok play with little ones. Although perhaps most importantly for me, it’s the fact that there’s no danger of the littlest swallowing these lovely chunky pieces, or risk of me painfully stepping on a teeny tiny bit that I didn’t see.
So its safe to say we’ll be playing with these lots in the run up to and throughout Easter and you could be too if you head on over to the Netmums competition where you could win a set for your little ones too (details at the bottom of the post). In case you need some inspiration for your entry, we’ve been busy seeing what out of the box creations we could come up with to celebrate MegaBloks new #ChokaBloks campaign and had a lot of fun coming up with these four. Let us know which one is your favourite!
#1 MegaBloks Racetrack
I love that the four large blok plates that you get on the First Builders Table can become part of your construction. As soon as we realised that we took the plates off of both of the little ones tables and built a huge MegaBloks racetrack to use with the two little cars that came with one of the sets. It was so much fun creating something totally unexpected and so different from the typical creations you expect to make.
#2 MegaBloks Robot
I don’t think you can play with a set of bloks and not make a robot. This guy was quick, easy and fun to make. The kind of thing that I would expect to make with the little ones, and the kind of thing they really enjoy making because it’s all about stacking those bloks higher and higher. The Mr and little lady had a lot of fun making this very cool guy together, but this would be an easy one for most little ones to have a go at on their own.
#3 MegaBloks Princess Castle
All the pink and glittery bloks, not to mention the pretty turrets, princess and unicorn in Ella’s MegaBloks set were just begging to made into a princess castle. This was fairly quick and easy, and a lot of fun to make with the little lady. We used one of the table plates as a base and built it on the floor, but you could also make a pretty large and probably quite cool castle by actually building it on the table and using that as a base.
#4 MegaBloks Throne
Our MegaBloks throne was probably the trickiest creation of the four, mainly because it needed to be sound from a construction perspective so needed a little bit of thought into it before we started. Whereas all our other creations were just built as we went along. But we still had lots of fun making this and were all able to build it together resulting in a very colourful and imaginative creation that Ella loved sitting on before the little guy came along and smashed it to pieces.
