Exhausted most definitely sums how I have felt over the last few weeks. Work is relentless and has been since January, and life is generally pretty busy. I definitely get the sense that I need to slow down and my body is starting to tell me that every morning when I wake up. It’s such an effort to drag myself out of bed and get through each day at the moment. Whats worse is that we ended up in hospital one evening this week for monitoring on a day when I felt particularly rough and probably should have taken the day off work rather than persevere through it. In the end both baby and I turned out to be just fine, it’s probably that I passed on my exhaustion to the poor thing. It was definitely a bit of a wake up call and realisation that at six months pregnant, it’s probably time to start slowing down!
I think there must be something going on with my hormones as well as I’ve had the most terrible breakout on my face over the last week. I suffered a bit with my skin in the first trimester and then thankfully it settled, but it seems to have flared up again all of a sudden. I’m really hoping that it doesn’t last too long and starts to settle again soon, although I could probably do with drinking more water to help things along as I’ve been pretty terrible with drinking water in this pregnancy.
None to report!
I wouldn’t say these are exactly a craving exactly, but I have all of a sudden developed a bit of a liking for mini cream cheese and cucumber bagels. I don’t know what it is about them, but I just can’t get enough of them at the moment. On the other hand, my penchant for plums is starting to wane and they don’t seem to be a necessity every evening like they were a week or two ago.
Up and down seems to be the best description. Mostly up, but there have been odd days where I’ve felt upset for no real reason. Luckily those days are few and far between and pass quickly.
What I’m Enjoying The Most So Far
The sweet baby kicks which the husband and little lady can now see and feel too. It’s so lovely for them to finally be able to enjoy the magic of it all too now. It makes me look back on the last few weeks and wonder what I was worrying about all those weeks ago when I was anxious about not being able to feel anything! I’m also quite enjoying secretly knowing what we’re having gender wise. I am so desperate to do a reveal but seem to be all out of creative ideas. I keep thinking that the idea will just come to me, but at this rate baby will arrive before a decent idea does!
What I’m Missing The Most So Far
Clothes are still very much an issue and im finding it really frustrating that increasingly there are fewer and fewer clothes that I can wear from my wardrobe. Even some of the looser items like my shift dresses are starting to look a bit ridiculous. Although I did finally manage to find some decent maternity jeans from TopShop that look great and fit like a dream (pregnant ladies go out and get yourself a pair!), otherwise every day is a struggle.
What I’m Looking Forward To
I’m really starting to look forward to maternity leave now. I started this pregnancy by saying that I’ll work as far into it as I can, but the further along I get the less likely I think that will be. So rather than give myself a week off before baby’s due, I’m taking three weeks and have finally submitted my Mat1B form at work to make it all official – the countdown is finally on yay!
I have officially given up on my belly button now. It’s so far out im not sure it’ll ever go back in, not properly anyway. In terms of new bump developments, the pesky Linea nigra line has started to faintly appear on my belly over the last week. I had it during my first pregnancy with the little lady and thought after getting to 23 weeks this time round without any sight of it, it might not appear but I was clearly wrong. Apparently it makes an appearance from around week 23 so sadly its pretty bang on time!
Week 23 – 25 Highlights
We’ve bought lots more clothes over the last two week and this little person is definitely started to develop a bit of a wardrobe, and a lovely one too. We definitely need to start thinking about buying some of the bigger baby bits that we need soon like a SnuzPod, new car seat and new pushchair (if I have my way!).
Only a few more weeks and we’ll be going into our third trimester, eek!
