Always Practice Gratitude: Gratitude List #20

Gratitude list image - seagull soaring in blue skiesI stopped writing gratitude lists and realised recently just how much I miss them. Life is not the same when I’m not practicing gratitude. Writing them brings a feeling of happiness and being centred that I have really missed. So here I am, back with my weekly gratitude lists, reflecting on all the things over the past week that I feel grateful. I hope you missed them as much as I did..

#1 Exciting new blog collaborations and events. Opportunities and events that I am actually having to pinch myself about. Having gone from a place only a few weeks ago where I was questioning myself and my blog, to being reassured and certain again of my place in blogging.

#2 Finally getting myself out of the funk I was feeling about myself and my blog over the last few weeks. A funk that I am sure I wouldn’t have even have been in if I kept up my weekly practice of gratitude!

#3 Meeting friends for lunch with the little ones on the weekend for a long overdue catch up. The kids had so much fun running around and us parents got to have a bit of a chat which was lovely.

#4 Some shelves I ordered for the children’s room a few weeks ago finally arriving. They were a few of the final pieces we needed to finish off their room so it was exciting to put them up over the weekend.

#5 Getting a solid six hours sleep at the start of the week for the first time in a long time. The little guys sleep has been pretty disrupted because of teething over the last few weeks which has been really tough. Waking up on Monday morning realising he hadn’t woken up in the night made me feel like a new woman. Amazing what a decent nights sleep can do!

#6 Watching Ella have a great swimming lesson at school was wonderful. Over the last few weeks she has developed a little bit of an anxiety as the lessons got a bit more serious. But this week it felt like she finally relaxed into them again and really enjoyed them. I felt so proud as a parent to watch her break through that wall.

#7 My hairdresser fitting me in for a hair appointment at home at short notice. She is so lovely and I am so grateful that I found her a few years ago.

#8 The happiness I feel from taking the littlest to Baby Sensory classes again. Its been lovely to take him to a class that I can see he really enjoys engaging with, and its been nice to see him around other babies his age. It’s also the first baby class that I’ve been to with Louis that I actually feel like I might make some new mum friends from.

#9 Meeting a friend and her little one for brunch today. I love mummy dates and am really going to miss being able to do them at the drop of a hat when I’m back at work.

What are you feeling grateful for this week? I’d love it if you shared it in the comments below.

I guess the benefits of practicing gratitude are nearly endless. People who regularly practice gratitude by taking time to notice and reflect upon the things they’re thankful for experience more positive emotions, feel more alive, sleep better, express more compassion and kindness, and even have stronger immune systems. And gratitude doesn’t need to be reserved only for momentous occasions.

Oh I completly agree! I got in the habit of practicing it weekly, using my blog as a way to do it. I fell out of the habit a few weeks ago and have to say I have really seen the difference in myself. I havent felt as happy, positive or motivated as I do when I practice gratitude. Its amazing what a little reflection each day or each week can do. Thanks for reading, its so lovely to hear someone elses thoughts on the power of practicing gratitude 🙂

I really need to do this – feeling a bit sorry for myself today (and where has the sunshine has gone? – boooo!) so this sounds like it could do the trick! Of all the above I think the sleep one would be top of the list for me – I always feel 100% better after a good night’s sleep, even moreso when the kids were younger! Lovely list and lots of exciting things happening in your life to be grateful for!

It’s good to focus on the things we have going for us in a world that seems determined to tell us the opposite! Congratulations on the new opportunities and pitches you’ve got – hope they led to bigger and better things for you and yours 🙂

Never underestimate the power of 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep! Baby Sensory was my daughter’s favourite class when she was a baby too – I like that it was a mix of structured activities and unstructured playtime. #MarvMondays

I’m in that blog “funk” at the moment. I just don’t seem to be doing enough. Most days I wonder if I should look for another job or do something else.

I’m so glad your happier about yours. Hoping spending some time over easter on it will re-ignite my passion again.

This is such a great idea, really forces you to reflect, which I find I need sometimes if I’m feeling down. If you actually take the time to think about it then things are mostly not as bad as you think and you have lots of things (even if they’re just little) to be thankful for. #MarMondays

I have never written a grattitude list but I am always aware of the importance of seeing the positve stuff. Getting 6 hours sleep would definitely be a positive for me. #marvmondays

There is so much that can be gained from taking stock of yourself and your surroundings at any given time, and realise how much is there to be thankful for. I am not a particularly optimistic person and can get easily overwhelmed so I’ve started to do this thing every night where I count my blessings as it were. Even if it’s a really seemingly banal thing such as ‘I am warm in my bed and have a roof over my head’, it is incredible how much it can give you lots of soothing perspective. #marvmondays
