A Christmas Showstopper: GLTC Cherry Blossom Dolls House

img_1754I thought we had Christmas sorted and sussed back in October. We were getting the little lady a Micro Scooter and that was that. An upgrade on the Disney Princess scooter she was lucky enough to get from Grandma and Grandad last Christmas. But then we went to the GLTC Bromley store opening and saw this, heart in mouth, beauty of a doll’s house and that was it. The little lady was besotted from the moment she saw it and made a bee line straight for it.

Last Christmas we toyed with the idea of getting her a doll’s house, I think more for the aesthetics than anything else. But quickly realised it was probably a little too intricate for tiny two year old hands, and instead decided on getting her the beautiful GLTC Sweet Pea Kitchen which has since become part of the furniture in our home. The kitchen was the highlight of her Christmas and I’ll never forget the look on her face and the pure shrieks of happiness when she discovered it in the kitchen waiting for her. It was magic. Pure magic.

I didn’t think we would recreate that moment or that magic quite so soon. But after watching her instantly fall in love with the Cherry Blossom dolls house in the GLTC store, I know we have a another winner on our hands this Christmas.

img_1748Its amazing what a difference a year makes. I didn’t think the little lady would have the concentration for a doll’s house, but she does and I quickly realised what a perfect gift the Cherry Blossom dolls house would make for a three year old. Suddenly old enough to sit and play with one thing for a reasonable period of time and have the interest and imagination to do so, yet are also young enough that they are going to get years and years out play of it. If there ever was a perfect age to gift a child a doll’s house, this would be it, and I can see why.

A prettily decorated house where everything is miniature, but can be touched and played with, has to be a three year olds dream. A place where things can be moved around and stories can be acted out. Where things look a little like they do at home. It is role play at its grandest.

With three fully functionally, beautifully decorated levels, little ones can make Cherry Blossom feel just like home with the fantastic miniature furniture and dolls that can be bought separately or as part of a pack with the doll’s house. Then there’s the outside. I think I could just sit and admire this beauty of a doll’s house with its pretty painted shutters and window box plants. It is what I have come to expect from GLTC and Le Toy Van who have designed the Cherry Blossom dolls house for the brand. Detail. Lots and lots of beautiful detail. It’s a fair size too, although not too heavy that you can’t move it about, which is handy as I imagine this might be a popular toy on Christmas day. One that gets moved around the house a fair bit until it finds its new home.

Of course there are a fair few wooden dolls houses on the market, all at varying prices. The GLTC Cherry Blossom dolls house is definitely on the higher end of the scale, but with good reason. I say this time and time again in our blog posts and our videos; when you buy a GLTC toy you are buying into quality and I have learnt over time that quality is definitely worth paying for when it comes to little ones. But if you still need persuading, here are a few things that we think make the wooden Cherry Blossom dolls house stand out from the crowd:

  • Its beautifully decorated both inside and out. Cheaper ranges/brands tend to only be decorated on the outside.
  • Its fully functional with opening and closing shutters, windows and door, most other ranges only have one or two of these things.
  • It’s an investment toy. It’s a piece that has the potential for longevity so you want to spend more because these are the types of pieces that can be handed down to future generations.

So if you are looking for a showstopper Christmas gift for your little one this year, the Cherry Blossom doll’s house makes the perfect gift for little hands and little imaginations. If you’re quick you can grab 20% off the full price (£115) in the GLTC flash sale this weekend!

Disclosure; we were sent the GLTC Cherry Blossom Doll’s House to review as part of our role in the GLTC Testing Team. We have lots of fun in what we think is one of the best jobs in the world, but we also take our role and responsibility very seriously which means you will always find a fair review and honest opinion of everything we test for GLTC.
