For the best part of the year, we have talked about moving Louis into his own room when it doesn’t seem like it was that long ago that we were excitedly changing things around so that both the little ones could share a room together.
But finally, during the bank holiday, we transformed what was once our home office into Louis’s first bedroom. It hardly took us any time at all, and by the time we were done, we were wondering why we’d left it so long. After months of debating a complete refresh of the room, we decided to work with the canvas we had and have been really pleased with the results.
The big reveal
I’ve been so excited by how well this turned out that I wanted to do a little room tour on here. I hope you enjoy having a look around, and if you do I’d love to hear what you think!
Upcycle and re-use
I love the little reading nook we’ve been able to create for Louis who is really into books at the moment. We picked up this little lounge chair a while ago from Ikea which fits perfectly in the corner. But the star of the show for me is the beautiful GLTC Greenaway bookshelf.
I’ve had my eye on this style of bookshelf for some time, but haven’t had anywhere to put one until now. I’m so pleased with how it looks up on the wall and by how many books you can get in it. Louis loves being able to see all his books and independently take out what he wants to look at so it’s practical as well as beautiful, and since he loves books so much we thought it would be fun for him to also have the Mr Fox book storage cart to carry them (and him!) around in.
Mr Fox is one of the new additions to the GLTC family and I just love him. We hadn’t planned to have any particular theme running through Louis’s room but Mr Fox has definitely given it a bit of a woodland look and feel.
Add little touches
Of course, no toddler room would be complete without a few instaworthy accessories like a sheepskin rug and classic Villac car which is pretty much all we can fit in this small but perfectly formed room.
We may add a few more small touches over the coming months, like a little shelf and some wall decor, but for now, we are pretty pleased with this little room makeover which has shown you don’t have to spend a fortune to update a room.

Disclosure; we were sent the GLTC Greenaway bookshelf and Mr Fox book storage cart to review as part of our role in the GLTC Testing Team. We have lots of fun in what we think is one of the best jobs in the world, but we also take our role and responsibility very seriously which means you will always find a fair review and honest opinion of everything we test for GLTC.
